- Where a visa is not required, passports should be valid until after leaving switzerland;
- Where a visa is required, passports must be valid for 3 months beyond intended stay;
- Since 5th October 1998 children are required to travel on their own passport, but children under 16 whose details were endorsed on their parents passport before that date do not require their own passport whilst their parents passport remains vaild.
The following DO NOT require a visa:
- Nationals of Switzerland
- Holders of British passports containing one of the following remarks; 'British Citizen', 'British Subject: Citizen of the United Kingdom & Colonies', 'British Protected Person', 'British Dependent Territories Citizen', 'British Overseas Citizen' or 'British National (Overseas)'
- Holders of national passports of Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brunei, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Rep, Denmark, Estonia, Fiji, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong (S.A.R. passport holders), Hungary, Iceland, Ireland Rep, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kiribati, Korea (South), Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macao, Malaysia, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Solomon Islands, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Tuvalu, United States & Vatican City
- Holders of national passports of all Central & South American countries including those in the West Indies (Caribbean Islands) (except Belize, Bolivia, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Rep, Ecuador, Haiti & Peru)
- For stays up to 90 days by nationals of Macao (S.A.R. passports only)
- Nationals of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, China(PR), Thailand and United Arab Emirates, if in possession of a multiple entry Schengen Visa (valid for all Schengen states)
